“Hayantar” SNCO of the Forest Committee in cooperation with the regional office of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is implementing the program “Increasing the resilience of forests in Armenia through adaptation due to mitigation measures and expansion of green spaces in rural areas”. The grant for the implementation of the program was provided by the Green Climate Fund. The eight-year program started in 2021. One of the goals of the project is to contribute to the 2.5 percent increase in forest cover in Armenia.
In the framework of the project, it is planned to organize the establishment of forest cultures exclusively with the closed root system plantation. Within the framework of the project, greenhouses were established where oak, birch, ash and pine seeds were sown.
During the meeting with the representatives of the Food and Agriculture Organization, Sevak Markosyan, director of the “Hayantar” SNCO of the Desert Committee, emphasized the message of the program: “Increasing the green areas of Armenia”.
