Deputy Minister of Environment Aram Meimaryan participated in the meeting of the regional project committee and the meeting of the technical working group “Upgrading global forest monitoring in the Caucasus region” financed by the Global Ecological Fund.
Welcoming the partners, the Deputy Minister once again thanked the Caucasus Regional Environmental Canter for the effective implementation of the Project and continuous cooperation.
“The Government of the Republic of Armenia has adopted a policy aimed at the comprehensive protection of the environment and natural resources and in this context also highly appreciates the experience of the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) in the field, which significantly contributed to the actions planned by the Program for effective implementation.
The main objective of this Project was to make available the technologies and information tools that will enable us, the decision-makers, to mitigate uncertainties, minimize risks in the process of developing policies and planning actions in the field of environmental management.
Accurate analysis of available information and data management will significantly contribute to the sustainable management of forests and the preservation of biodiversity by creating favourable conditions for effective land use and restoration of forest landscapes,” the Deputy Minister noted.
During the meeting, the works carried out within the framework of the Project were discussed, the achievements were evaluated, and the next steps were identified in order to apply the Project’s results as efficiently as possible.
