By the initiative of the Ministry of Environment, spring tree planting activity was carried in three marzes of the Republic of Armenia

By the initiative of the Ministry of Environment, on April 27, a nationwide tree planting was carried out in three marzes of the Republic of Armenia, by the financial resources of the state budget, in the Tashir, Syunik and Hrazdan forestry branches of “Hayantar” SNCO of the Ministry of Environment. Pine, larch, and ash were the main forest-forming tree species planted at the tree planting, around 14,000 trees were planted.

As part of the global action against climate change impacts, the Republic of Armenia has adopted the agenda of forest conservation and restoration, committing to double its forest cover by 2050, and this tree planting was another step within that agenda.

Minister of Environment H. E. Hakob Simidyan, Deputy Minister Mr. Tigran Gabrielyan, Head of Eco-Patrol Service Mr. Vladimir Kirakosyan, Director of “Hayantar” SNCO Mr. Sevak Markosyan, other heads of SNOCs under the Ministry, Secretery General of the Ministry of Environment Mr. Sergo Atanesyan and representatives of the Ministry took part in the tree planting process. Representatives of state departments, educational institutions, international and community organizations also joined the tree planting ceremony.

As part of the spring tree planting, “Hayantar” SNCO will continue planting trees.
